Can Bayern Munich Be Stopped?

Bayern Munich blew by the competition last season to win the Bundesliga and they are the big betting favorites to do so again this season. That is no surprise since they are stacked and feature many players that were on the World Cup winning Germany squad.

Odds makers see the Bundesliga as, pretty much, a two-team race with Bayern Munich at 1/6 and Borussia Dortmund at 6/1. Every other squad in the league has odds of at least 33/1 to win the Bundesliga title.

Pep Guardiola begins his second season in the Bundesliga with Bayern and it would be a shock if they did not win the league crown. The squad did lose star striker Mario Mandžukić, but with the likes of Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben and World Cup winners Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Thomas Müller, and Manuel Neuer, who won the Golden Glove, Bayern is fully loaded.

Can Borussia Dortmund put up a challenge for Bayern? They did not make any huge moves in the off-season, but Robert Lewandowski signed with rival Bayern. The squad finished second in the league last season and also ranked second in goals scored and goals conceded.

Schalke 04 (33/1) has the talent up front with the duo of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Julian Draxler and the solid addition of Christian Clemens. However, the midfield talent is an issue and that will be magnified, especially facing Bayern in league play.

Bayer Leverkusen (33/1) did not make any big moves in the off-season and let some players leave on free loans. While they finished fourth in the league last season they still were 29 points back of Bayern. The offense is decent, but the defense, which gave up 41 goals last season, is the big concern.
