Weekly Marquee Matches for Apr. 22

Many of the bigger matches in Europe this weekend are in England, and Chelsea can almost wrap up the Premier League with an away win over Arsenal.

As well, Inter Milan and Espanyol need to win this weekend facing powerhouse teams in their leagues to keep their Europa League hopes for next season alive.

Southampton vs. Tottenham – Matchup Report

Tottenham sits in sixth place in the league table only one point clear of Southampton and if there is a loser in this match they will have, pretty much, no chance to challenge for the top four and an automatic Champions League berth for next season. The Spurs are coming off a much-needed win in their last match after only taking one point in their previous two and they face a Southampton squad that has lost two of their last three matches. Early this season the Spurs beat Southampton 1-0.

Bet365 has Southampton as the EPL betting favorite posted at +105 with Tottenham at +240 and a draw line of +250.

Arsenal vs. Chelsea – Matchup Report

It looks like the EPL trophy is in the bag for Chelsea and that will definitely be the case if they beat Arsenal this weekend. The Blues are 10 points clear of the Gunners in league play and they are riding a four-match winning streak. However, Arsenal has won eight straight league matches and have only conceded three goals in their last six matches.

At home Arsenal is the betting favorite at Bet365 at +125 with Chelsea at +220 and a draw line of +230.

Everton vs. Manchester United – Matchup Report

Manchester United is coming off a loss, which snapped their four match EPL winning streak, but while on the road they are a big betting favorite. Everton has had a season to forget sitting in 12th place in the league table, but they have won four of their last five matches and still have a chance to finish in the top eight for an automatic Europa League berth. Early in the season Man U was at home and beat Everton 2-1.

Man U is the away EPL favorite with posted odds of +115 at Bet365 with Everton posted at +225 and a draw line at +240.

Inter Milan vs. AS Roma – Matchup Report

Inter has drawn in three of their last five matches and they are two points out of a Europa League berth for next season. AS Roma is tied with Lazio for second place in the Serie A table and they have played to a draw in two straight matches. While there is no chance of them catching Juventus for the Scudetto they are in a good shape to finish in the top three for the Champions League for next season, but a loss in that match may put that in jeopardy since they are being chased by a few clubs.

Inter is the home betting favorite in this Serie A match, as Bet365 has them at +138 with AS Roma at +210 and a draw line at +225.

Espanyol vs. Barcelona – Matchup Report

This Barcelona derby may be bigger for Barcelona, as they are in first place in the league table only two points clear of Real Madrid. However, Espanyol is unbeaten in their last five La Liga matches and still have a legitimate shot to finish in the top eight. They have a tall task facing Lionel Messi and a Barca offense that has scored the second most goals in the league as a well as a defense that has conceded the fewest.

Bet365 has Barcelona as the big betting favorite with odds posted at -350 and Espanyol with posted odds of +1000 and a draw line of +450.
