Weekly Marquee Matches for May 6
The week’s biggest matches are in the semifinals of the Champions League, but this weekend some teams are jockeying for position in their respective domestic leagues.
Real Madrid passed a stiff test last week facing Sevilla on the road, and now are tested again at home facing Valencia.
B. Monchengladbach vs. Bayer Leverkusen - Matchup Report
Bayer Leverkusen is coming off a solid home win over Bayern Munich and they may move into second place in the league table with a win. They are unbeaten in their last five matches and face a B. Monchengladbach squad that has four wins in their last five matches including two straight wins. Monchengladbach has been winning with their defense, which has conceded the second fewest goals in the league, and earlier this season they played to a 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen on the road.
B. Monchengladbach is the slight home betting favorite at Bet365 at +150 with Bayer Leverkusen at +180 and a draw line at +240.
AC Milan vs. AS Roma
Unless they have a collapse AS Roma will be playing in the Champions League next season while AC Milan need to finish the season on fire, and may still need help, to play in the Europa League next season. Milan sits in 10th place in the league table while Roma is in second place, but will not catch Juventus for the Scudetto. It is hard to imagine AC Milan turning it around, as they are winless in their last five matches with three straight losses.
AS Roma is the pretty big Bet365 Serie A betting favorite even on the road with odds of +100 and AC Milan at +280 and a draw line of +250.
Lazio vs. Inter Milan
Lazio has a four-point cushion over Napoli for the last Champions League berth, but they face a dangerous Inter Milan squad that is unbeaten in their last five matches and sits eighth in the league table. Lazio has only conceded two goals in their last three matches and earlier in the season they played to a 2-2 draw against Inter in Milan.
Lazio has posted odds of -110 at Bet365 with Inter Milan at +320 and a draw line of +250.
Real Madrid vs. Valencia - Matchup Report
Real Madrid still sits two points behind Barcelona for the La Liga title, and they came up with a big win over Sevilla last week. However, they lost their Champions League match this week to Juventus and face a Valencia squad that has won two of their last three matches and sits in fourth place in the league table. On top of that Real was beaten on the road by Valencia earlier this season.
Real is the big home betting favorite at Bet365 in this La Liga match with posted odds of -250 with Valencia at +750 and a draw line of +350.
Chelsea vs. Liverpool - Matchup Report
Chelsea has already clinched the Premier League title with a win last week, but Liverpool still has some work to do to finish in the top four and get an automatic Champions League berth. The Reds only have two wins in their last four matches and they are four points back of Man U for the last CL berth. Will Chelsea be at full strength in this match that means nothing to them in terms of the standings? The Reds hope not and they lost to the Blues at home earlier this season and also lost to them in Capital One Cup play.
Bet365 has Chelsea as the EPL betting favorite at +105 with Liverpool at +260 and a draw line of +250.
