The World Cup field is set and the final draw will take place in Costa do Sauipe, Bahia, on December 6th starting at 4pm GMT. In Pot 1 the hosts Brazil are joined by Spain, Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, Switzerland, and Uruguay. This means none of these teams will be facing each other in group play.
The teams will be watching the draw and hoping they are not drawn into the dreaded Group of Death. In 2010 in South Africa the Group of Death was a killer one, when is it not, with Brazil, Portugal, who were both ranked in the top five in the world, Ivory Coast, and North Korea. In that group the big guns advanced with Brazil and Portugal moving on.
France is not in the first pot and will play a tough team, but would they be the underdog facing the likes of Switzerland or Belgium? The French come into the tournament hot after winning their last qualification match 3-2 over Ukraine after losing the first leg in Kiev 2-0.
Brazil is still the betting favorite and with good reasons, as they are stacked and the tournament is being held on their soil. However, the only other time the World Cup was in Brazil they lost in the finals to Uruguay.
In the five World Cups that have been held in the Americas (4 in South America 1 in the United States) a team from South America has won the trophy every time.
