Belgium vs Algeria Betting Preview
Belgium is the big betting favorite facing Algeria in each squads opening group match. Algeria has the worst odds to win Group H and while they did not have an easy World Cup qualifying process they are not playing in a very tough group, so anything can happen.
One thing that Algeria has going for them is that in all of their World Cup tune-ups this year they faced three European squads and won all three.
BookMaker has World Cup betting odds for this match with Belgium at -195 and Algeria at +700 and a draw line at +325.
Belgium is a loaded squad that has no glaring weaknesses and they have a solid attack led by the likes of Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku (who is a 3-1 favorite to be the first goal scorer in this game, per Bovada).
Riyad Mahrez and Nabil Ghilas may start up front for Algeria, but a few other players could get the call. Thomas Vermaelen and Vincent Kompany are a solid center back pairing for Belgium, but the side defenders may be a bit of an issue, which gives Algeria a shot since they have a solid wing attack.

Algeria has a good midfield led by Inter Milan’s Saphir Taïder, but they like to attack and that may hurt them. They really have to bottle up Belgium MF Kevin De Bruyne, who is a great playmaker and solid at finding the attacking players up front.
Hassan Yebda may be Algeria’s best defender and will be counted on to keep De Bruyne and company from dominating the midfield and continually setting up scoring chances.
Algeria does have talent, but they do not match up well with a much better Belgium side, who will win this match.
