Croatia vs Mexico: Croats Will Prevail

To say this match is a big one is an understatement, as the winner will advance to the round of 16 while the lower will go home. Croatia must win the match, as even if it ends up in a draw Mexico will be move onto the knockout stage.

Croatia is coming off an impressive 4-0 win in their last group match facing Cameroon and they are the slight betting favorite against Mexico.

Bovada has World Cup betting odds for the match with Croatia as the favorite posted at +161 with Mexico at +190 and a draw line of +242.

Mexico’s defense has been great so far with two clean sheets in two matches, which is even more impressive holding Brazil scoreless in the 0-0 draw. GK Guillermo Ochoa had a fantastic match in the Brazil match stopping several point blank shots. He now faces Mario Mandzukic, who scored two goals in the Cameroon match, and a Croat attack that was firing on all cylinders in their 4-0 drubbing in their last group match.

Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic lead the solid Croatian midfield and will face a solid Mexican midfield and a good attack. Mexico has only scored one goal in the World Cup so far, but they were not afraid to push forward on offense in the Brazil match.

Ochoa and the Mexican defense must play well facing a Croat squad that will be on the offensive since they need the win and three points to get out of the group.

Mexico can still advance if they lose, but Brazil will have to lose to Cameroon, which is an unlikely scenario.

Mexico will be playing a defensive match, but the Croatians will score and win and head to the round of 16.
