Netherlands vs Mexico Betting Preview

The Netherlands won their group, which included 2010 champions Spain, and they are tied with Colombia for the best goal differential in group play (+7).

They are the betting favorite in the round of 16 facing a dangerous Mexico squad that has been very impressive so far.

Mexico barely qualified for the World Cup, but they went undefeated in group play and only missed out on winning the group because of goal differential. They kept Brazil scoreless in their second group match and in their last one beat Croatia 3-1.

Bovada has the Netherlands as the rather big World Cup betting favorites at +110 with Mexico at +255 and a draw line of +268.

Mexico GK Guillermo Ochoa has been one of the big stars of the tournament so far, but he and the Mexico defense will be facing a great Dutch attack. Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben each have three goals in the World Cup so far and the Mexican defense must mark this duo the entire match.

Oribe Peralta leads the Mexico offense and while the Netherlands did keep a clean sheet in their last match facing Chile they are the weakness of the squad. Mexico has been playing great defense, but they showed in the Croatia match they have the offense.

It is key that Mexico pounces on counter-attack chances since the Dutch will be attacking from the opening whistle.

Mexico comes into this match with confidence, but their defense will have trouble keeping van Persie and company down.
