Odds France Will Win World Cup 2014

Les Bleus will be looking to redeem themselves after the spectacle they created on and off the pitch at World Cup 2010 before being eliminated in the Group Stage. There are no reports of internal conflict this time around, and manager Didier Deschamps has taken steps to keep it that way, most notably leaving temperamental midfielder Samir Nasri off the roster. France struggled to qualify for Brazil 2014, but are -125 favorites to win a weak group that also features Switzerland, Ecuador and Honduras.

France Odds to Win World Cup 2014: 20/1 (from Bovada)
France Odds to Win Group E: -125 (from Bovada)

After failing to qualify in 1990 and 1994, les Bleus rebounded in 1998 to win their only World Cup title, pounding Brazil 3-0 on home turf at Stade de France. They followed up in 2002 with a dismal performance, but returned to the final in 2006, losing to Italy on penalties. After the debacle of 2010, France is on trend to go deep at Brazil 2014, and face huge pressure at home to do so.

Early World Cup Pick

Currently ranked No. 16 in the world, France is a -125 favorite to win one of the weakest groups at the 2014 World Cup. Switzerland are actually ranked No. 8, but are pegged at just +250 to finish atop Group E. France and Switzerland have not faced each other on the pitch since the 2006 World Cup when they played to a scoreless draw in the Group Stage, a result that eventually clinched the group for the Swiss. France will be heavily favored against Ecuador. However, Ecuador has had recent success against top-tier squads, with wins over Chile and Colombia. Honduras is a +3300 longshot in the group and a team that the French should defeat.
