Odds Germany Will Win World Cup 2014

Germany arrives at Brazil 2014 in pursuit of their fourth World Cup title. The Germans last won the tourney in 1990, but returned to the final match in 2002, where they lost to this year’s hosts, Brazil, before advancing to the semifinals in 2006 and 2010. Sporting odds of 11/2, Germany is the favorite to win Group G, considered to be the “Group of Death’ at Brazil 2014.

Germany Odds to Win World Cup 2014: 11/2 (from Bovada)
Germany Odds to Win Group G: -180 (from Bovada)

Stacked with world class talent, Germany has suffered just three losses in international matches since the beginning of 2012. However, one of those losses came at the hands of USA, whom the Germans will face in the Group Stage at Brazil 2014. The German squad includes a superb midfield and stout defense, but not a superstar striker, which could be a cause for concern in a group that includes competition that have the ability to run up the score.

Early World Cup Pick

In the 17 World Cup tournaments in which they have competed, Germany have reached the semifinals 12 times, and have not been eliminated in the first round since 1938. Despite being part of this World Cup’s “Group of Death”, that trend will continue. They remain one of the world’s elite national sides and are a good bet at -180 to finish atop Group F. Portugal have lost three straight head-to-head against Germany, including a 3-1 loss at the 2006 World Cup. USA was the last top-tier squad to beat Germany, but have never scored a goal against them in World Cup competition. Germany faces Ghana in the Group Stage for the second straight time. In 2010, Ghana gave the Germans all they could handle in a 1-0 loss which gave Germany top spot in their group.
