World Cup Top Goalscorer Betting Odds

There are several players that have solid World Cup betting odds to win the Golden Boot and James Rodriguez is the surprising leader in goals, as the quarterfinals matches are set to begin.

Here are the players with the top seven odds to win the Golden Boot and while Bet365 has odds posted for many other players they all are long shots to be the top goal scorer.

Lionel Messi 5/2

Messi is carrying the Argentina offense and while a couple of the players from the squad had good odds they have not helped out the Barcelona superstar. He is tied with a couple other players with four goals apiece, which is the second most in the World Cup. Messi has a tall task in the quarterfinals trying to score facing a Belgium squad that has a great defense.

James Rodriguez 11/4

Rodriguez has been a surprise in the World Cup and as the quarterfinals are set he leads the tournament with five goals. He goes up against a stout Brazil defense in the quarterfinals, but Colombia is in top form and Rodriguez has gotten solid help from the midfield.

Junior Neymar 7/2

Neymar has four goals and has been the catalyst of the Brazil attack. Other players like Fred have not helped him out much, but he has taken advantage of scoring chances. It helps him that he has Oscar and a solid midfield that creates many scoring opportunities.

Thomas Muller 9/2

Muller has four goals and he has gotten help with five other players for Germany that each has a goal. His squad faces France in the quarters and in the semis they may have to face a Brazil squad that has a good defense.

Robin van Persie 12/1

Van Persie has three goals even though he did have to sit one match after picking up a red card. One major thing the Dutch striker has going for him is that opposing defense cannot key on him since his squad has such a great overall attack with several players that can find the back of the net.

Arjen Robben 18/1

Robben also has three goals and he and van Persie lead the great Dutch attack.

Karim Benzema 18/1

Benzema has three goals that leads France and while his squad is the betting underdog facing the Netherlands in the quarterfinals the Germans have a solid defense.

Here are the odds for the players with the best odds to win the Golden Boot and you can see all the players with odds at Bet365.

Lionel Messi 5/2
James Rodriguez 11/4
Junior Neymar 7/2
Thomas Muller 9/2
Robin van Persie 12/1
Arjen Robben 18/1
Karim Benzema 18/1

The Golden Boot is the trophy that is given to the top goal scorer of the World Cup. Here is a look at some the the top contendors:

Lionel Messi (Argentina) 7/1

Messi leads the great Argentina attack and he scored the second most goals this season in Spain’s La Liga. Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain also have good odds to win the top goalscorer and because Argentina has many great attackers Messi will not be the only focus of opposing defenses.

Neymar (Brazil) 10/1

Neymar did not score a ton of goals for Barcelona this season, but he is the leader of the Brazil attack. Like Messi, opposing defenses cannot only focus on him since they have Fred and Hulk up front as well.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) 12/1

Unlike Messi and Neymar Ronaldo has to do it all for Portugal and not only that, but he plays in the Group of Death. Still, he is regarded as the world’s best striker and he led La Liga in goals this season.

Sergio Aguero (Argentina) 14/1

Aguero plays alongside Messi and Higuain and he was the leader in the EPL in goals scored before the injury bug hit him and he missed quite a few matches.

Luis Suarez (Uruguay) 16/1

Suarez led the EPL in goals this season and this was even missing a few matches at the beginning of the season because of a suspension. For Uruguay he plays alongside Edinson Cavani, who also has solid odds to be the top goalscorer, but he is playing a couple of legitimate teams on defense in group play facing Italy and England.

Fred (Brazil) 20/1

Neymar is getting most of the accolades for spearheading the Brazilian attack, but Fred plays up front as well for a team whose strength is the defense, but does not lack offensive firepower.

Gonzalo Higuain (Argentina) 20/1

Higuain is third of the three-headed monster for Argentina and one thing the squad has going for them is that two of the three teams he will be facing in group play in Nigeria and Bosnia and Herzegovina have a good offense, but a weakness when it comes to the defensive side of the pitch.

Romelu Lukaku (Belgium) 22/1

With Christian Benteke out of the World Cup with an injury Lukaku is the main guy for the Belgium attack and he will be counted on to press the offense for the squad that may be the dark horse of the tournament.

Diego Costa (Spain) 25/1

Costa dealt with some injury issues at the end of the La Liga season, but the Brazilian born striker still scored the third most goals in Spain’s La Liga this season.

Karim Benzema (France) 25/1

Benzema is overlooked being a FW for Real Madrid alongside Ronaldo, but he is a great striker and while Italy has a solid defense in the group they are playing in he is the key guy up front for the French.

Robin Van Persie (Netherlands) 25/1

Van Persie dealt with some injuries this season at Manchester United, but he is still the leader of the solid Dutch attack.
