USA vs Ghana Betting Odds Preview
Will the third time be the charm for the Americans? They have been knocked out of the last two World Cup tournaments by Ghana and in their first group match facing them in this World Cup the Yanks are the betting underdogs.
Bovada has Ghana posted at +145 with the USA posted at +210 and a draw line of +240.
Ghana is a very fast and physical squad led by the midfield with such world-class players of Kevin Prince Boateng and Michael Essien and Michael Bradley and the Americans’ midfield has their work cut out for them. Bradley is a solid attacking midfielder that really must capitalize on counter-attack opportunities. The USA will get them, as Ghana will be pressing the issue on offense from the get go.
While Ghana has a solid midfield and a good attack led by former Sunderland striker Asamoah Gyan the defense is the weakness of the squad. While the USA does not have a dynamic attack Clint Dempsey is solid up front and Jozy Altidore is coming off a two-goal performance in the last friendly match, which ended his scoring drought.
USA head coach Jurgen Klinsmann made some controversial choices for his World Cup, especially leaving veteran Landon Donovan off the squad, but picked a team that is very quick, which means they should match up well with Ghana.
Everton GK Tim Howard leads the USA defense and in their last three World Cup friendly tune-ups they have only conceded two goals. While the Americans are solid on the counter-attack so is Ghana so the Yanks have to be wary about that and get back on defense quickly.
This match is being held in Natal, Brazil, which has a very wet and rainy conditions and this may be an advantage for the Yanks, as a wet field will slow down the Ghana side.
While taking three points will be important for both squads, since they both have to face Germany and Portugal in the Group of Death, it simply will not happen, as this match will end in a draw.
